June Meeting Herbs and Jubilations!

Our speaker this month is Herbalist, Deborah Syrett. She has given us the following information about the talk;
''I will do a short introduction on my training and what I teach at the Forest Farm Peace Garden (I do herb walks and talks and teach people how to use herbs safely for themselves and their families for day-to-day first aid instead of relying on pharmaceutical drugs) (people have forgotten even the most basic understanding of how the body works - so an important part of my work is re-educating them). I will bring a number of samples of medicinal herbs from the Garden that can be handed round and I will discuss their medicinal uses, how to preserve them and how to make simple home herbal preparations from them. I will also bring some prepared herbal tinctures and syrups etc. for people to try.   I will bring a teapot with me and a mix of dried herbs to make a herb tea. I make a small charge for herbal first aid hand-outs that I ask £1 for to cover the cost of photocopying.''

Don't forget, to keep up the jubilee mood we are inviting everyone to wear something Red/White/ Blue

 Also at this months meeting: Jubilee Mini Quiz Thanks to Sue O'Malley for organising this for us!

April Meeting

Please accept our apologies for the lack of speaker last night. Mark had sent an email quite late on as he had been struck down with flu. Maxine will be in touch with him when he is feeling better and hopefully we will be able to hear the second part of his talk in April.

Other activities in April will include:

- Easter Raffle - Bring an Easter related wrapped gift of around a pound in value and then we will have lots of lovely prizes for the raffle

- Egg decorating competition - This can be a boiled egg, foam egg or wooden egg. Pay a £1 to enter and see if the judges think yours is eggcellent!

Reminders

Please start clearing out your costume and dress  jewellery for a jewellery swish in May!

Details of the craft raffle showcase in June will follow at the next meeting.

March Meeting - Local History Talk

After much woo-hoo-ing and yee-har-ing at our last meeting it's time to hang up your cowboy boots, take a seat and relax.

We are fortunate to have the excellent Mark Watson coming in to deliver the second part of his local history talk. Part one went down really well amongst the group and I'm sure part two will not dissapoint.

See you there!
